I had been a Toy Dolls fan since about 1987, and had always wondered about where the band got the inspiration for their songs. Not any more. This book tells you all you need to know, with a full chronological history from 1979 to the present day, interspersed with chapters devoted to songwriting themes (soap operas, girlfriends, places, celebrities, mates from singer Olga's youth, etc), and an 8-page photo section. The tone is informative but relaxed, and the material is often very funny. I found the author's tone just right for a biography of this type: it's clear he's a top-grade fan, but he's also objective and honest in his appraisal of the band. I can't recall reading a better punk biography, and congratulate Ronan Fitzsimons on his achievement. Buy this book and lose yourself in a madcap world of nostalgia, humour and premier league punk!

This is an excellent, well written, account of the first 25 years of this amazing band, and the dedication and hard work of Olga (the man's a genius and brilliant musician) in making them into the professional stage act that they are today. The Toy Dolls deserved greater success in the UK than they received, however they are loved everywhere else, and have amassed a loyal band of fans across the world. It would be good if Ronan could update the book, as there have been another ten years of The Toy Dolls since this was written and a lot of new stories which need to be told.
